Lithium-ion batteries are rechargeable batteries that rely heavily on lithium ions moving between positive and negative electrodes. In the charging and discharging process, Li+ is embedded and disembedded back and forth between the two electrodes: when charging the battery, Li+ is disembedded from the positive electrode, through the electrolyte into the negative electrode, the negative electrode is in a lithium rich state; The opposite is true when discharging. Batteries containing lithium as electrodes are representative of modern high-performance batteries.
When a battery is charged, lithium ions are formed in the positive electrode of the battery, and the resulting lithium ions travel through the electrolyte to the negative electrode. As the negative carbon layer structure, it has a lot of micropores, reaching the negative lithium ions embedded in the carbon layer of micropores, the more embedded lithium ions, the higher the charging capacity. Similarly, when a battery is discharged, the lithium ions embedded in the carbon layer of the negative electrode escape and travel back to the positive electrode. The more lithium ions returned to the positive electrode, the higher the discharge capacity.
General lithium ion battery charging current is set between 0.2C and 1C, the greater the current, the faster the charge, and the greater the battery heating. What's more, too much current can't charge to full capacity, because the electrochemical reactions inside the battery take time. Just like pouring beer, if you pour it too fast, it will foam and become dissatisfied.
Operating temperature range of lithium ion batteries
Conventional lithium ion battery operating temperature: -20℃~60℃, but generally lower than 0℃ lithium ion battery performance will decline, discharge capacity will be reduced accordingly, so the full performance of lithium ion battery operating temperature, common is 0~40℃. Some lithium-ion batteries require different temperatures for special environments, and some can even operate at hundreds of degrees Celsius.

Generally, the working temperature can be lower than -20℃ polymer battery is called low temperature polymer battery, low temperature polymer battery is divided into ordinary low temperature polymer battery minimum operating temperature of -40℃, ultra-low temperature polymer battery minimum operating temperature of -55℃.
Usually, the better the low temperature ability of low temperature polymer battery, the worse its high temperature performance, these two requirements are relatively contradictory, at present, many lithium ion battery companies have developed a wide temperature type of low temperature battery, can work in minus 40℃ to zero 70℃, important for vehicle-mounted electronic equipment and other special requirements of the product.
Charging requirements, lithium requirements in 0℃ above, otherwise often charged, battery damage is faster, there are safety issues, discharge generally in -20~60℃.
